Hello and Welcome to bushcraftleather.co.uk!

This site has been created to allow  an outlet for my creativity, as I love making things out of leather, and now that I have made everything I possibly can for myself and my kids, I now need a new outlet for what I make, and I hope this is it.

I make practical leather “Bushcraft” items such as knife sheaths, belt pouches and belts. Although anyone into similar outdoor activities, such as camping or just being in the great outdoors may find them just as useful.

All of my leather work is made with 3.5mm natural vegetable tanned leather hide. I use oil dye to dye the leather to the required colour, usually a rich dark brown or mahogany colour. The edges are all glued and stitched using strong linen thread, and saddle stitched along the full length, with back stitching at the ends to guarantee a strong seam. The edges are finished by burnishing and sealed with a gum to give a nice smooth finished edge.

All cutting, marking, sewing, and finishing is done by hand, using hand tools, only a small hand-held mini dremel style tool is used for some of the more awkward holes.

All metal rings are solid polished brass, as are any Sam Browne studs used.

All are finally polished with a natural wax polish.
